Myers Named WCL Player of the Week for Week of June 21-27

Three doubles Sunday tied franchise record

Chaz Myers was named the West Coast League’s Moss Adams Player of the Week for the week of June 21-27.

Myers went 11-for-21 at the plate in the Pippins’ series against the Ridgefield Raptors and Walla Walla Sweets, including six doubles. In Sunday’s 16-inning win over Walla Walla, Myers tied a Yakima Valley Pippins franchise record with three doubles, last accomplished in 2017 by Nick Plaia.

He singled to leadoff the bottom of the first inning and scored the first run for the Pippins in Sunday’s game. In the fifth inning, he hit his second double of the game with one out and scored on a base hit by Willie Lajoie.

In the last week, he scored six runs and drove in three RBI. He added five walks and struck out just three times.

Myers has also shined defensively for the Pippins, displaying smooth hands and a strong arm all around the infield. He started Sunday’s game at shortstop and moved to third base, and has received a nearly equal amount of starts at second, third base and shortstop during the season.

In the Pippins’ final non-league game against the Cascade League’s showcase team on June 21, Myers went 2-for-3 with a double, run scored and RBI.
