West Coast League Announces Agreement with Major League Baseball

YAKIMA, Wash. — Major League Baseball and the West Coast League have reached a partnership agreement that will begin in 2023.

The partnership, which will be fleshed out in coming months, will see the organizations pursue initiatives of mutual interest in the areas of player and coach development, technology innovation, and community engagement.

In 2022, the 16 WCL teams in Washington, Oregon, British Columbia and Alberta drew more than 600,000 fans. The WCL has more than 300 alumni who have gone on to play professional baseball.

“Major League Baseball is excited to enhance our relationship with the West Coast League,” said John D’Angelo, Senior Vice President, Amateur Baseball Operations. “The West Coast League is an important partner in the development cycle for amateur players and in representing our game in West Coast League communities. This agreement builds on an already solid foundation, and provides a framework for our work together.”

The complete WCL-MBL announcement can be read on the WCL website.
