New Voice of the Pippins Joins Team for 2024 Season

New York native Jacob Schrantz takes over for 10th anniversary season

YAKIMA, Washington — Jacob Schrantz, a sports media and broadcasting double major at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, has joined the Yakima Valley Pippins as play-by-play broadcaster and media relations manager for team’s 10th anniversary season in 2024.

Schrantz began his broadcasting career in college and has become one of the top sportscasters among his peers. The Orchard Park, New York ,native was listed as a third-team All-American college sportscaster by Sportscasters Talent Agency of America this past summer. He joined some of his fellow college honorees as a top-20 college broadcaster, according to STAA.

Schrantz has a large resume of work on the air, including radio play-by-play for a variety of college athletics, including baseball, softball, football, basketball, volleyball and hockey. He recently was on the call for the world record-breaking volleyball match between Nebraska and Omaha inside Memorial Stadium in front of over 92,000 fans.

This summer, Schrantz has used this college experience to veer off a traditional path and to earn a broadcasting role with the American Cornhole League. He traveled the country for the national events announcing games on YouTube and the ACL Digital Network.

The 21-year-old broadcaster is excited to join the Pippins organization and continue to grow the exposure of the team. He will be with the team for home and road games, while also managing some roles outside of being on the microphone.

The Pippins begin their 10th season in late May 2024.
