Late Offensive Burst Gives Wenatchee Series Win Over Pippins

Wenatchee, Wa. — The Pippins dropped game two of the three game series tonight against the Wenatchee AppleSox by a final score of 10-6.

Eddy Pelc started on the mound for the Pippins and went two innings giving up one run in the bottom of the first on a sacrifice fly from AppleSox’s center fielder Dalton Harum.

The Pippins scored three runs in the top half of the second, first on a fielder’s choice groundout by James Bell, scoring Kyle Dean, then on a wild pitch, scoring Christian Padilla, and finally an RBI single by Aidan Welch, scoring James Bell.

The AppleSox picked up a run in the bottom of the third with a solo home run to left field by Harum, his second RBI of the night.

With the score 3-2 Pippins entering the fifth inning, the AppleSox put up three runs to take the lead. Kodie Kolden led off with a single, Connor Kiffer followed up with a double, and Blake Klassen drove both runners in with a double. Later in the inning Torin Montgomery drove in Klassen on a sacrifice fly.

The Pippins scored a run in the top of the sixth due to a defensive error for the AppleSox, making the score 5-4 in favor of Wenatchee. The AppleSox then scored two in the seventh and three in the eighth inning to make it 10-4. The two runs in the seventh came on a two-out, two-RBI double from Cody Simmons. The scoring in the eighth began on a double by Klassen and an RBI triple by Harum. A defensive error by Pippins’ third baseman Aidan Welch put Hunter Montgomery on base and a single by Torin Montgomery made it 9-4. Finally, an RBI single by Kody Darcy brought in Hunter Montgomery, making it 10-4 AppleSox.

The Pippins found life in the ninth, picking up two, two-out runs with a two-RBI double from Brady Hormel, but the game ended shortly after with a Kyle Dean strikeout swinging, giving the AppleSox the 10-6 victory.

The conclusion of the three-game series is scheduled for 5:35 p.m. tomorrow at Paul Thomas Sr. Stadium. Pregame is scheduled for 5:20 p.m.
