Knights Ride Big Second Inning to Series Win

CORVALLIS, Oregon — Corvallis struck for six runs in the second inning Thursday en route to an 8-2 victory and the series win against the Yakima Valley Pippins.

The Knights sent 11 batters to the plate in the second off YV starter Payton Graham, and used five hits and a walk to bring home the runs. The big hit was a one-out, bases-clearing triple by Ethan Holt.

Graham struggled with control, walking eight while allowing six hits. All seven runs off him were earned.

The Pippins scored their only runs on a two-out double by Owen Egan.

Zack Blaszak and Josh Hankins each finished 2-for-4 for the Pippins.

The Pippins close out their home schedule with the Battle of the Basin series against the Walla Walla Sweets beginning Friday, then host the Cowlitz Black Bears beginning Tuesday in another three-game series.
